I mean, I’m not frequently looking at prices of new Porsche’s but was curious to see where the Taycan would (roughly) slot in. Saw that a base model Cayenne is almost a full 25% cheaper than the base Panamera.

Guess I never realized.

I was at Porsche last week and found a nice 2019 Cayenne for $62k. I don’t think there was a Macon on the lot for less than that.

I’d argue thats worth it. Toureg/Q7 bottom vs Panamera/Bentely GT bottom.

Less penny pinching.

No one buys a base cayenne though

The Cayenne also tows.

And it stays  cheaper than the Potatomera even when you option it.

Sure, but it’s like buying a base F150 for $28,000, no one does that, not even public/city municipalities for work trucks.

I’d be curious to see what the average selling price would be and see how they slot from there in real life.

Before I got my GTI, I was seriously considering a used Cayenne. The videos Everyday Driver made about their own used Cayenne were what made me think about that.

Even now, I would still look into a used non-turbo V8 model or a V6 model for me or my wife.

I had a friend with a first gen Cayenne Turbo. I think he bought it for extremely cheap. I remember him talking about fixing the driveshaft at one point, Porsche wanted huge money for the part, so he went to Audi, saw it was the same part number and inquired as to their pricing. Audi wanted much less, but still a lot. Then he remembered that VW also built an SUV on that platform. Sure enough, it was the same part number....and much much cheaper. We had quite a bit of fun in that car, there’s something uniquely fun about a Cayenne Turbo that doesn’t really need to be babied.

I’d be curious to see the market demographic  for 100% base trucks and how many are actually purchased.

I’m seeing a lot more loaded trucks on sites now from a lot of contractors. They look to be combining their traditional work trucks with sedans into a single vehicle.

The only traditional work trucks I see are either old work trucks or new base models used purely by the company and parked when not in use. You still will find n ew single cab long bed from a contractor from time to time.

From a contractor point of view, if you HAVE to truck then why not spend a little more on said truck and forgoe getting a nicer commuter?

I frankly don’t see any 100% base trucks anymore. Even fleet trucks are crew cab so you can pile as many guys as possible in it. Very rare to see a fleet truck with an extended cab for me.

I agree, especially with how comfortable and loaded modern trucks are, they can tow more than before but they do it far more efficiently . If you factor in everything, it’s probably makes more financial sense to own a single truck than a work truck & sedan. Also resale is high with trucks both now and historically regardless of fuel prices.

There was a VW, Audi Porsche dealership near me. They used to ahve a shared service station, with a chart d epending on model, the labor rates . Same building, same techs. no idea why it would piss off customers.
